King Sudhardev was built a palace here for the Queen Padmini and named that palace as Ranikhet. This town is having a healthy climate, coniferous trees, green meadows, tranquil surroundings.
There is no trace of this palace can be found today, but still, this place continued the same beauty. Ranikhet is still carrying his captivating feature. Bhalu Dam:
Bhalu Dam located near the Chaubatia Gardens. Bhalu Dam is a lake which was built around 200 years ago to supply water for British soldiers. Bhalu Dam covered by towers trees with the snow-covered Himalayan ranges. This lake is more beautiful by migratory birds. The lake is the idol opportunity for camping and picnicking. There is the brilliant St. Bridget Church located near to Bhalu Dam.
Cantonment Aashiyana Park:
Aashiyana Park is a perfect park for all age group people. This park has multiple attraction points like Children Park, Herbal park, colourful fountains.
Mankameshwar Temple:
Mankameshwar Temple situated in Ranikhet. This temple is a famous attraction of Ranikhet. The Indian Army built this temple in 1978. Inside this temple, people can see deities of Radha Krishna, Lord Shiva and Ma Kalika.
Majkhali:
Majkhali is the best place to enjoy in the top of a Ranikhet’s mountain. For its beautiful views and natural land Ranikhet is famous. In the Majkhali there is a small village where Goddess Kali Mata Temple and picnic spots are situated. In the Majkhali visitors can see different types of flora and fauna. From the Ranikhet, a distance of Majkhali is around 12 km away, which is reachable by Car and Bus.
Jhula Devi Temple:
In the 8th century, Jhula Devi Temple built. The temple dedicated to Goddess Durga, which is known for its collection of gracefully designed by its bells. Native people believe that this temple has the wish to fulfil the prayers. Ram temple also located to near to Jhula Devi Temple. This temple situated near Chaubatia Garden which is in distance of 7km from the city. The devotees honour Jhula Devi temple from around the world. This temple dedicated to Lord Durga which is sites on a wooden swing Jhula. The name was given by this Wooden Swing only. This forest area filled with a wild animal like Leopard and tigers. Local people believe, the Lord Durga protecting them from the wild animals. People say that from many years after its formation, the goddess Durga continues her love by her blessings. By visiting this temple, visitors can experience different spiritual life in Jhula Devi Temple. As per historical accounts, this temple is nearly 700 years old. Chaubatia was a compressed forest which is full of wild animals. Most of the times, Leopards and Tigers used to attack people. People believe after prayed to “Maa Durga” she is protecting them from such an animal. People said that Once upon a time, “The Goddess Durga” appeared in a shepherd’s dream and asked him to dig up a specific place and build a temple for her. Next day in the morning, the shepherd has visited that place with few villagers and constructed and installed the idol of the Deity. Thus, people say from that day, the villagers freed from the wild animals, and the shepherd could roam around the area freely with the sheep.
Chaubatia Gardens & views of the Himalayas:
Chaubatia Gardens situated from 10 km south side of Ranikhet. There are various orchards available in the place. These orchards are known for its delicious apples, apricots, peaches and its other fruits. There is a state-run fruit research Centre situated here only. Bhalu Dam has created the background of a beautiful lake, which attracts tourists to visit this place round the year. Chaubatia Gardens is a beautiful tourists place.
Kumaon Regimental Centre Museum:
Kumaon Regimental Centre (KRC) is a museum located in Ranikhet. This museum is having top mark achievements and successes of the Kumaon Regiment. This museum built in the 1970s. There are endless photographs which are available in the interiors of the museum. This museum is displays weapons used by military and enemies, medals and uniforms of brave soldiers, flags of rebels captured in battles, stone.
