Naina Devi Temple, Nainital Overview
According to Hindu mythology, Naina Devi is one of the holy places from fifty-one Shakti Peeth of Goddess Sati. The legend says Devi Sati burns herself in her father’s Daksh’s Yagna. Lord Shiva distressed, and he holds her charred body on his shoulder from Yagna, and he started Tandav dance. The Lord Vishu unleashes his chakra and cuts the Goddess Sati’s body into fifty-one parts. From that fifty-one parts, Eyes of Devi Sati fell in this exact place, so legend gave the name of this temple is Naina Devi Temple.
There is one more story related to this temple. The boy named Naina came here. He saw a few cows are showering milk on the stone. He observed the same thing for the next few days. One-night, goddess Sati came into his dream and said those stones are my Pindi. The following day that boy Naina told his entire Dream to Raja Bir Chand. When Raja also observe the same thing is happening, he built a temple there and gave the name “Naina Devi Temple.”
One more story associated with this temple. Sikh Guru Govind Sing Ji has performed a sacrifices Yagna to defeats Mughals.

Dorothy’s Seat or Tiffin Top is top-rated for a visit, which situated in Ayarpatta Hill. Dorothy’s Seat is another name of this place. The title placed in the loving memories of Dorothy Kellett. He was an English artist and army officer. Dorothe Kellett lost his wife Dorothy while as she was aboard ship with her four children.
