Gurudwara Hemkund sahib

Hemkund Sahib is a highly worshipable place by the Sikh community. This Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara is star-shaped, which located near the lake. Every year, this place visited by thousands of devotees. There is a Hindu temple available that dedicated to Lord Laxman (Brother of Lord Ram). According to Hindu Mythology, Lord Laxman and Rishi Medhasa meditated at this place ( Markandeya Purana). The time to visit this place is from July to November. To reach in Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara, people need a trek of 6km from Ghangharia.

Most of the Sikh pilgrims have started to rich at Hemkund Sahib from May. First, all pilgrims help to repair the damages, and then they perform the pilgrimage. This process or tradition is called “Kar Seva” or “Selfless Service.” House of Hemkund Sahib is in the scenic lake. In this lake, devotees are takes dip. As per the Sikh history, Hemkund Sahib was late in the nineteenth century. According to Hindu Mythology, the Hemkund Sahib known as Lokpal.

Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara located 15,000 feet from the sea level. This place is lovely, and this is the shrine destination of Sikhs. It situated in Chamoli District in Uttarakhand.

In this place, there is no staying facility available. There is no proper infrastructure and adverse weather conditions of Gurudwara. After the prayers, Peoples must leave by 2 PM to keep up the night in Ghangaria.

Hemkund Sahib Yatra Opening Date

This place is open for 5 – 6 months, as the best suitable time as per the weather, is from May and October as this weather is pleasant with a maximum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius.

The first Nagar Kirtan will start from 24th May, which will reach by 25th May in Gurudwara.

How to Reach

By Air: Jolly Airport is the nearest Airport for Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara. From the Airport, people must be reached in Govind Ghat by road (292km). Taxis and private vehicles are also available here. The drive for Govind Ghat is well connected. After that, people must be gone by 19 km to reach Hemkund Sahib.

By Train: Rishikesh Railway Station is the nearest railway station for Hemkund Shaib. Form this railway station; people must be reached Govind Ghat by road (273km) from NH58. Taxis and private vehicles are available hereafter people must be gone by walk to reach Hemkund Sahib(16km).

By Road: Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara well connected to the Govind Ghat. After that people must be trek around 19km. Taxis, Private Vehicles, and buses are readily available from Delhi, Dehradun, and Punjab.
